What is Iyengar Yoga?
Yoga is great exercise for the body, mind and spirit. It can be used
therapeutically as well, to aid in healing many kinds of injuries, both physical
and emotional. Yoga can also significantly reduce stress. Anyone can practice
yoga— you do not have to be strong or even flexible. We will start at your level
of ability and build from there. Through a systematic progression of poses your abilities will develop over time, encouraging confidence and commitment.

Hatha yoga in the tradition of BKS Iyengar uses physical postures,
breathing exercises, and study of the philosophy of yoga to help you
achieve health and vitality. The focus is on developing one’s awareness
through concentration, creating alignment in the body and balance between strength and flexibility. Props such as blocks, straps, and blankets are
used to allow for deeper exploration of the poses and to give access to
poses when there are limitations. The yoga space at The Lake House
is fully equipped and perfect for private lessons, small group classes
and workshops. Jill also teaches at Yoga Haven in Tuckahoe, NY.

I am now offering a CD for the beginning yoga student who has
already been taking classes and wants to start practicing at home
but needs some direction.

The CD has 15, 30, 45, and 60 minute sessions, to easily fit in to
your schedule. Each session has a variety of poses that will help
develop a strong foundation, building strength and flexibility in the
body as well as balance and focus in the mind.
