Jill Ganassi has been studying yoga since 1996 and teaching since 1998.
She is a Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor and is dedicated to practicing
and teaching yoga in the method and tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar. In addition to
teaching in other yoga studios such as Yoga Haven in Tuckahoe, she has
her own center, The Lake House, where she teaches group and private
Yoga classes and has a Stress Management and Hypnosis practice. Jill is a
NY State Licensed Master Social Worker and is certified in Ericksonian
Hypnosis. She also teaches workshops on yoga and hypnosis around
Westchester County and the tri-state area and teaches the philosophy
portion of Yoga Haven's teacher training.

Jill is also a 2nd degree black belt in Shotokan Karate. Jill started studying Shotokan Karate at 18 and fell in love with the art. It changed her life for the better, in many profound ways. Karate educated Jill about the body and the connection between mind and body. Over the course of 14 years of study she cultivated strength and understanding in body and mind and learned to be centered and aware physically and mentally.

Jill became ill with an autoimmune disease in 1992 and was unable to continue
to practice Karate. That was when she discovered the healing properties of yoga. Over the course of some years she adopted yoga as a means of continuing her physical and mental self development.

In addition, Jill has physical limitations due to congenital defects in her joints. Through disciplined work and study in Iyengar yoga, she has learned how to maximize health, cultivate strength and flexibility in both body and mind in spite
of these limitations. This experience gives her a unique ability to help others
work with and overcome their own limitations and difficulties.

In her work as a yoga teacher she does her best to share the knowledge that
her teachers have so generously shared with her, and that she has cultivated in
her own practice, and to do so with compassion, connection, and openness.
In her work as a stress management counselor she combines yoga, meditation, body-centered awareness, hypnosis and other techniques, according to the
needs of the individual.
